What I noticed first is the Watch Tower of canada is definitely 2 words. I wonder what the new purchased property will be now that they are out of Brooklyn and possibly the corporation with the hundred year history of 1 word.

as you recognize this allows for an unending extension of time and likely stems from an awareness of the approach of the year 2014 marking 100 years since the date of 1914.. .
Thanks for posting Ray's comments. He knew this day would come and predicted they would have to bring in "new light". I see it as Brooklyn finally admitting that he was right!
I love Ray's books. For me he turned alot of internet stories, blogs, 2nd hand accounts, et.al into cold hard facts. And he does it with humility and a sincerity that begs compassion. The enormity of the power to deceive breaks my heart every time I think of it, everytime I see another person suffering. After listening to the conclusion of Matt's Podcast - I would suggest there isn't room for another nail in their coffin - yet they go on. Our only hope is education and Ray's books are one of the best places to start. (as well as the interactive support here)
SAHARA & jdhf - have you read Ray's "In Search of Christian Freedom"? I recommend it as a place to start after learning the Truth about the truth™. Look at it as a stepping stone. Although I was never a JW, I was raised catholic as well and understand what you're going through. Some might disagree, but I attribute my flexibility & tolerance in faith to my catholic (universal) upbringing. (I was fortunate to not take anything literally) You are so right - the WT virtually destroys any possibility for a faith in "God". They are ego driven and once you see behind the curtain - what's left?
Sometimes we think we have to name and define everything. Well, the whole world is out there and it's a fantastic place with beautiful people and so much to believe in.

i need help remembering a scripture.
i'm sucessfully turning the conversation to the point where her answer is going to have to be something along the lines of the light keeps getting brighter and brighter, because we're discussing the "generation" teaching changing multiple times and why that is, and i want to bring out a scripture something along the lines of "you will know they are false teachers because their prophecies often fail that the jw's use against other religions", but not only do i not know what bible book, chapter and verse it is, i can't remember the correct wording to search it.. this site has already been a great help, because i've gotten her to flip flop her stance on the blood doctrine (first she told me fractions weren't allowed, and when i showed her they were, then she changed her tune, which caught the attention of others in there.
i was able to get her to the point where she is flustered and waffling over the "generation" teaching, which i was able to do thanks to the wonderful chart outlining all the flip flops that had been posted here, so thank you on those, but since i can't remember the scripture, i can't use the search function, because i can't remember what i'm talking about, as i've been out 13+ years, and didn't even keep my bible.. if you know what i'm talking about, could you please help me figure out what i'm talking about?.

I remember reading in an old WT that it might look like their doctrines change but instead its like a ship tacking on the waves, and eventually getting there to the "right" understanding. the light always getting brighter.

i'm halfway through two books, and both of them together have greatly helped me understand why people are attracted to extreme religious groups like the jehovah's witnesses, and how these organizations manage to stick around...year after year.
i figure understanding why is the start.

I just finished "the uses and abuses of History" by Margaret MacMillan and just about to start her "Paris 1919". Amazing common sense that so often gets overlooked - people are so wrapped up in whats in it for me now! They are willing to re-write history to get what they want. We are all too familiar with that concept.
also if you aren't familiar with Gabor Mate: "In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts", it is well worth a look. He has some video talks up at TVO.org. A doctor living in Vancouver works with addicts - his discussions on filling the void, easing the pain - he speaks from his own ADD perspective with a compulsive disorder (he buys music :-)
I think I read somewhere that they can even fall away AFTER they are dead? is this true? or is this only "while they are still on the earth"?
If so, that would mean only the great crowd dies dead dead,
and when a annointed dies its only on earth? are they wisked off to "heaven" or some place where they might sin? or read the truth about the Truth™ and get heavenly DF'd which clears the way for new ones on earth - like the young GB members?
